By Anonymous Hsin Tien, Taiwan April 16 2004 -- Power Digital Card (PDC) continues to lead industry concepts in the memory card market. Being granted awards for memory card designs last year, PDC was awarded again this year with the Certificate of Excellence for its RSMMC designs. Recently, PDC takes action to move its production processes for more environmentally friendly concepts, announcing lead free MultiMediaCards. The lead free cards will not have any materials that contain lead, and will not be restricted to density size or form factor (includes standard MultiMediaCard and RSMMC). In PDC, the lead free cards will be classified as "Green Cards."
PDC’s concept is to operate in consideration for Mother Earth. All materials used in MultiMediaCard production should be materials that can be recycled or friendly to the environment. Lead is a type of material that is poisonous, thus, PDC sees the importance to move production processes to be lead free. Countries as Europe or Japan are already moving towards the concept and PDC takes an earlier step to make this come true. When fully prepared, PDC plans to transform all of its production processes to be lead free.
According to PDC production Vice President Wells Lin, “There are challenges in technology to transform production processes to be lead free, but if you put your mind and heart to it, it can be done. We hope other players in the memory card industry can follow suit and within a short period of time, all of the manufacturers can become protectors of our environment.”

By Anonymous Woodbury, NY January 22 2004---Maintaining golfer loyalty and finding new golfers are challenges for golf course management. Now courses can use USeGOLF’s Course Reward Cards to provide Player Incentive Rewards and memberships in Preferred Players Clubs, two new programs designed to encourage loyalty, increase rounds, and track golfer activity
Currently, one in five golfers are loyal to public or daily fee courses. Repeat golfers; on average spend 67% more money at a course and a 5% increase in golfer retention yields a profit increase of at least 25%. USeGOLF’s Course Reward Cards, part of the MarketSuite Customer Retention Program, are an essential tool for ensuring that player retention is maximized. Incentive reward programs used by airlines, hotels, and retails stores are a proven approach for encouraging customer loyalty. USeGOLF’s Course Reward Cards and associated software allow reward points to be automatically tracked for each round of golf played. The software provides complete flexibility in reward point assignment, redemption value, and expiration date.
"For every ten rounds that a golfer plays at a course, he or she has referred seven new golfers to the course." said Mike Wands, PGA Pro and Marketing Manager at USeGOLF. "The Course Reward Card provides an incentive for golfers to stay at the same course and when golfers are retained, profits increase.”
“The Course Reward Card acts like a gift card, a loyalty card and a membership card all in one. I can manage all the transactions myself and don’t have to pay a transaction fee.” Said Matt Moison, of Green Hill Golf Course, MA.
Course Reward Cards can also be used to track activity of members of Preferred Players Clubs. A membership in the club means that the golfer pays up front for a set number of rounds and gets additional rounds for free. The upfront booking allows the golfer to reserve desired timeslots, while the course receives revenue early. Customers can check their card balances via a website reward site for the course or at the proshop.
